Community of Learners Cache - Grade 5 and Grade 1 Group Project
A learning experience that pairs grade 5 and grade 1 students using GPS. This cache is designed to promote fifth graders community involvement and citizenship while also aiding grade 1 students in the mastery of alphabet skills.

Olympic Research
A learning experience that teaches students how to refine a search. It more specifically teaches the students about Women's Figure Skating in the 2010 Olympics so the students can follow these athletes during the Olympics. It also gives them a sense of pride for their country.

TUSC-Totally Unusual Speaking Club Works well in grades 4 to 9 or higher.
TUSC is a highly structured activity that allows all students in a class to learn and practise communication skills. At a chosen time in each school cycle, all students gather to talk and listen. Each student has a special role. Over a period of weeks, students rotate through all of the essential roles and participate in many of the optional roles.

Jeopardy Students create a template using powerpoint with own categories, then come up with 5 answers/questions for each. Use Jeopardy format assigning different dollar amounts to each.

Writing Music - Grade 5 Students will write their own song (we wrote songs about reading, and fun on the beach), based on a particular melody (or you can have them write that as well
depending on the capabilities of your students) – we used “Mary Had a Little Lamb”, and “Row Row Row Your Boat”. Learning experience -
9. Snowmen at Night: Kindergarten ELA/Art After several readings of the children’s book “Snowmen at Night”, students will create artwork depicting the nocturnal activities of snowmen. Once students have created their artwork, each picture will be digitally photographed and uploaded to the computer. Student artwork and snowmen pictures (sourced from Creative Commons), combined with student-generated text and music, will be used to develop a digital storybook inspired by Snowmen at Night.
10. 3-D Solids: Kindergarten Mathematics/ELA Learn about the characteristics of 3-D objects by finding real examples in the students immediate environment.
